On using a gun to send a message

The message you send, if you celebrate it, is “It’s okay to use a gun to make my point.”

People always think the cause is righteous in their head.

Usually, the message the receiver gets if you hit them is, “I should hit you back harder.”

Not whatever message you originally meant to give them.
